Computing Requirements

In order to follow the hands-on exercises sessions, the students will need to bring their own laptops. The laptop must be capable to connect to the internet. The exercises will be run on a dedicated CERN Web notebook service, SWAN (swan.cern.ch), which is open to everybody holding a CERN computing account. 

The persons having a CERN account need to also have access to CERNBOX, the shared storage service at CERN. New users of CERNBOX are invited to activate it beforehand by simply connecting to https://cernbox.cern.ch

For people not having a CERN accounts, some special temporary accounts with CERNBOX access will be provided for the course.  In this case, please contact Mark Hartz at mark.hartz@ipmu.jp to let the organizers know that you need a temporary account.

A basic prior knowledge of ROOT and C++ (or Python)  is also recommended for participation in the practical exercises session.
