Description

The Einstein equation tells us that the Ricci curvature tensor is determined by the energy momentum tensor of matter. Thus quantum matter implies quantum spacetime, even without quantizing gravitational degrees of freedom, ie, gravitons.
In this talk, I introduce a couple of examples in which the quantum nature of spacetime is explicitly revealed, and discuss its consequences.
