Transportation

By Plane

The University of Tokyo, Hongo campus, is located in the center of Tokyo. People usually use the Narita International Airport (NRT) or Haneda Airport (HND) to get there.

  • From NRT
It is most convenient to use the Keisei Skyliner from the Narita airport. You can drop off at the Keisei Ueno station. It takes about 45 minutes from the airport to this station. More information about the Keisei line is available here. Another option is to take the Narita express from the airport, which takes you to the Tokyo station in about 55 minutes. For more detailed information, see the JR website.

  • From HND
You can use the Tokyo-Monorail Airport Rapid; it takes 17 minutes to get to the Hamamatsucho station from the airport. Then take a JR Yamanote line train to go to the Ueno station.

By Train

You can use the Shinkansen (the bullet train in Japan) to get to the Tokyo or Ueno station.

Local transportation

The nearest subway station to the conference site is Nezu on the Chiyoda line (about 10 minutes walk).  Hongo-san-chome on the Marunouchi line and the Oedo line, Yushima on the Chiyoda line, and Todai-mae on the Nanboku line are also in the walking distance.

From the Ueno station, it takes about 20 minutes by walk. You can also take a taxi.

From the Tokyo station, you can directly go to the Hongo-san-chome station by using the Marunouchi line. If you would like to go to the Nezu station, you can first walk to the Nijubashi-mae or Otemachi station, and take the Chiyoda line there.
